It's time to start showing off spring collections! Yes, it's February and cold, but these brighter colors will have you prepping for flowers and picnics! The Color of Petals collection has 6 colors, but I only received 5, and my press sample information says 5. I do see six colors on the website, but only 5 are available to buy, so there must be a production slow down on that sixth color! So I'm sharing the 5 available to purchase now!

Strike a Posie: 2 coats plus top coat. This is a blush pink creme and depending on your skin tone, you'll see more or less pink. I'm pretty much in the middle with this color. I love colors like this in general. I adore this on my and I love that it was 2 coats!

Follow the Petals: 3 coats. This is a pink pearl color, but can definitely lean a little frosty, so be light with your amount of strokes. In the bottle, I was like bleh, but I won't lie, it's sort of growing on me. Who am I?! I feel like my grandma would have loved this lol. Anyway, it's the only non-creme of the collection. I bet it would be gorgeous as a gradient.

Young, Wild, and Free-sia: 3 coats plus top coat. This is a soft peach creme, and sort of matches my skin tone. Am I peachy? I like the amount of dustiness in this one. I'm a huge dusty creme fan, and I like it in the peach tones.

Merci Bouquet: 2 coats plus top coat. This is a dusty lilac creme. Huge yes to this one. The formula was almost a one coater and it's really gorgeous. I currently have navy blue toes, but I'm craving to put this on. It's just stunning and definitely my favorite!

I Feel Flower-ful: 3 coats plus top coat. In the bottle, I was like this is too close to Strike a Posie, but the bottles lie, because these are very different. This is a light neutral creme and pulls more beige than pink. I'm actually wearing this as my manicure. JUST this! I put it on and I was like this is what I want to wear. At times though, I swear it looks pink so it might be a shifter.

Although the Follow the Petals is a little frosty for my taste, I do think it works in connection with the other colors. I love cremes like this though and actually wore I feel Flower-ful on its own for a few days! As I mentioned, I do see on their website that there's a sixth color, but it's not available at Ulta to buy, so who knows!

The spring collections from nail polish brands always excite me, and the Morgan Taylor The Color of Petals Nail Polish Collection is one of the prettiest spring collections I’ve seen so far with such pretty pastel shades.

Sometimes pastel shades can have a more difficult formula to apply and can be quite streaky, but none of these shades have any streaking issues and they have one of the best formulas I’ve ever tried.

This styrofoam slime is also an amazing science lesson. Did you know that when you put styrofoam in pure acetone it will make the styrofoam melt down to almost nothing? Now, I say melt, but that’s not really the case. It’s more like dissolving, or changing form. It is a bit complicated, so I will explain. (If you are looking for Floam Slime made from styrofoam balls, check out this post.)

You’ll need just two supplies for the styrofoam slime experiment: Styrofoam cups or beads or peanuts & pure acetone. It needs to be pure acetone, not regular nail polish remover.

To do this experiment, you only need to put acetone into a bowl or pan and place styrofoam into it. Or you can just pour the acetone over the top for the styrofoam. The acetone will go a long way. We used one small bottle and it dissolved more than a dozen cups.

You can help it along by moving the cups around in the acetone, or just sit back and watch it dissolve. Any surface of the styrofoam touching acetone will dissolve.

SAFETY NOTE: Now here is a bit of a caution. These are strong chemicals with a lot of fumes. We opened windows and had our kitchen fan on filtering out the air as we did this experiment. If you can do it outside, I would highly recommend that. You may also want to use gloves when doing this experiment as it could be harmful to your skin, too. My kids did not use gloves and were totally fine, but if doing it in a school setting, safety is definitely preferred!

Dominique features a dark plum purple base filled with purple and copper flecked shimmer. The formula was very easy to work with and quite pigmented taking two thin coats for full coverage. Sophia features a bright red base filled with red and gold flecked shimmer. I used two coats here for full coverage. If you wanted even more shimmer you could easily add a third. Alexis features a clear base packed with silvery white foiled shimmer flecks. The formula was easy to apply, though I do recommend waiting a little extra time between coats for best coverage. I used three coats here and though my nail lines do still show through a bit, it isn't super obvious due to the shiny shimmer. The Juste un Clou bracelet, just like the Love bracelet, is a cult design among the Cartier stable. Self-confessedly by Cartier it is first and foremost a nail, simply: a nail transformed into a piece of jewellery. It’s the purity of the line that transforms said simple nail into a precious object and the design of the Juste un Clou bracelet is revealed in a single stroke of design. It was Cartier’s aim to reduce the piece to its purest form: structure. Easy to read and instantly understandable.

When the Juste un Clou bracelet was created in 1971 at Cartier New York (soon after the Love bracelet), it was known as the Nail bracelet. The name would change some time later when the bracelet returned in the 2000s and was called Juste un Clou, which sounds a little more alluring. Today the collection exists in yellow gold, rose gold and white gold, in both paved and non-paved designs. It also incorporates rings, brooches, necklaces and pendant earrings.

Since its invention by Aldo Cipullo, some 50 years ago now, the piece has become a classic, a cult piece which boasts an industrial aesthetic. At the time of launch it made Cartier relevant to a younger and more fashionable audience. Such was its success that in 2012 Cartier relaunched the Juste un Clou bangle and released an entirely new collection based around it. The new Juste un Clou offering included rings as well as bangles, all shaped like those original bent nails, and each made in rose, white, and yellow gold; others were outfitted with pavé diamonds set into the “head” of the nail.

By 2017, the Juste un Clou collection grew and extended to earrings, cufflinks, tie pins, as well as a torque necklace. The Juste un Clou bangle is still the most coveted, though. And feels especially modern among today’s designs.

Supposedly, Cipullo and his brother would make frequent trips to the Hippodrome hardware store on 45th street in New York City and this is where inspiration came from for the bracelet, as well as the other Cartier favourite, the Love bracelet. Apparently, Cipullo loved to hve a good look around, touch everything mechanical, and saw household objects as a blank canvas for transformation.

Used to love going to this nail salon however, it's changed ALOT. Most of the staff is gone, quality of service has declined. Asked for round nails and not square with little filing so I could keep my length. The person caring for my nails did the complete opposite after I explained numerous times. I even spoke to the owner and still not completed correctly. I watched several people come in and ask questions and was spoken rudely to and they walked out. Watched the owner sleep in a chair (where customers wait to be serviced), a client couldn't even pay until another person showed up. How Many Different Types Of Artificial Nails Out There?

Really nice staff. Had them skip the nippers and didn't bat an eye at my request. Only a few minor criticisms, they didn't time the Mani pedis to end together, some took longer and received other items like foot file vs buffer file so we ended up waiting for 25 minutes after don't for our last party- no big deal. The man who did my nails didn't air out the hot towel and it was too hot, it was a little bit shocking, so I lifted and fanned it a moment, again not a big deal. He did use a nail strengthener instead of a top coat and primer instead a base coat which to me-a licensed nail tech is pretty annoying (they will chip up in a few days and dull fast). Most of the staff spoke to us and engaged in conversation which is nice, made my shy child feel comfortable. I think they had a person in training because he didn't know how to use a 4 way buffer block for a high shine without polish. However, he was quickly educated by the staff and made them look nice. Took my pregnant daughter for a nice relaxing mom and daughter day and we had our feet and nails done. Pediure was a dream. Loved it. We both had tips put on and seemed to be a good job. 2 weeks later, every nail lifted at the top. My daughter had several that lifted as well. Never had all ten nails lift off like that. We went to another place for fills and my daughter had to take everything off and start over and I had most of the acrylic done over.
